The IPL fans are all geared up for the highly anticipated Mega Auction, scheduled to take place on 12th and 13th February 2022. If reports are to be believed, then the auction is going to be held in Bangalore.

As many as 1214 players have registered for the auctions and it will be interesting to see how many players will the BCCI shortlist out of them. Talking about the overseas players, a total of 318 cricketers have signed up.

As of now, 33 players have either been retained or acquired by the franchises for the next edition of the tournament. Out of these 33, 10 players are overseas. The rest of the overseas names will be going under the hammer.

While most of the overseas players have listed themselves with a base price of INR 2 crore, some have registered under the 1.5 crore bracket. It is safe to say that not all the players under the 1.5 crore bracket will be sold at the auctions. Some of them are likely to go unsold and, in this article, we will be talking about three of them.

  1. Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan’s current form with the bat doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. He has been undergoing a horrendous form with the bat. Be it international cricket or domestic cricket leagues, Morgan hasn’t been able to return with great numbers.

He struggled badly in the last edition of the Indian Premier League, having managed only 133 runs in 17 matches at a dismal average of 11.08. Kolkata Knight Riders chose not to retain him for the next edition and it’s pretty unlikely that any other franchise would buy his services in the upcoming auction.

India currently has a plethora of top-order batsmen in white-ball cricket. The franchises are spoilt for choices when it comes to picking openers for the team. They always look to buy the openers who are in top form and Aaron Finch isn’t one of them.

Turning up for RCB in the 2020 edition of IPL, Finch scored 268 runs at a poor average and strike rate of 22.33 and 111.20 respectively. He went unsold last year and isn’t likely to find any buyer this year as well.

Finch’s inability to bat in the middle-0rder won’t help his cause either. Sadly, Australia’s T20 skipper is, once again, likely to go unsold in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions.

  1. Colin Ingram

Colin Ingram has played two seasons in IPL so far. He last played for Punjab Kings in the 2019 edition of the tournament. In 12 matches, he managed to score 184 runs at an average of 18.40.

He has since been overlooked for two consecutive seasons. Ingram hasn’t done any significant with the bat in T20 leagues in the recent past and with age not on his side, he might not find a buy this year as well.
