IPL 2022 Auction: Shane Watson Reveals His Top 5 Picks For Mega Auction

Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson has revealed his top picks ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. He has chosen five players who he thinks will fetch a high price in the bidding event. The auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. This is probably the last of the mega auction as per reports and thus teams will be gunning down to get the best of players.

A total of 590 players will go under the hammer at the auction. IPL 2022 will be a 10-team event with two new teams (Ahmedabad and Lucknow) being added ahead of the 15th season. Watson picked David Warner, Shreyas Iyer and Mitchell Marsh as his first three players to watch out for. Two of them are potential captaincy candidates and the three teams without captains will have an eye on them.

David Warner Has A Point To Prove: Shane Watson

“Well, it’s here. It’s an exciting time for world cricket – the mega-auction for the IPL. Here are my top five picks in the upcoming auction. No. 1 is David Warner. He’s got a big point to prove. Dominated the T20 World Cup. He is going to be a big pick. No. 2 is Mitchell Marsh.

“He has been a match-winner in every game that he has played over the last year, so he is going to be on fire I believe. No. 3 Shreyas Iyer. He is such an impressive young batter, such an impressive leader. Gosh, which IPL team wouldn’t want him?,” Watson said in a video posted on his official Twitter handle.

Shane Watson picked Yuzvendra Chahal and Kagiso Rabada as his final two picks. Both were strike bowlers for their respective franchises in the IPL. However, Delhi and Banglore released him due to the strict retention rules. While Chahal took 139 wickets for Banglore, Rabada took 70 wickets in 44 matches across the last three seasons for Delhi.
