The IPL 2022 kicks off with CSK taking on KKR at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on March 26. Previously these two teams met on 19 occasions with CSK winning 12 games and KKR seven. Chennai beat Kolkata in the IPL 2021 final to lift the IPL title for the fourth time.

KKR had a memorable second half of the IPL in the UAE. They won eight matches on their way to the final but lost out to CSK in the summit clash. Over the years KKR players have brought out their best whenever they have played against MS Dhoni‘s side.

Dhoni’s batting prowess has waned in the last two seasons of the IPL. It is with his leadership acumen that he has been helping CSK win most of their matches. Barring the IPL 2020 season, CSK had never had a year when they failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Dhoni will be up against Varun once again in the first game as his weakness has been exposed time and again by the spinners in the IPL. The mystery spinner has already dismissed Dhoni thrice in the IPL. It will be interesting to see who wins the next battle.

Andre Russell vs Dwayne Bravo

Russell’s highest IPL score is an unbeaten 88 against CSK in 2018. In that game, he hit as many as 11 sixes and a few against Dwayne Bravo. Whenever these two players have faced off each other they have tried to outdo each other. It will be the same again as the two players get ready for the big opening game on Match 26.

Shreyas Iyer vs Ravindra Jadeja

Shreyas Iyer, the KKR skipper has been in the form of his life ahead of IPL 2022. He has scored the fifties continuously and was even named the Man of the series against Sri Lanka as the scored three consecutive fifties. Iyer played alongside Ravindra Jadeja as well in the T20I series against the Lankans as both of them batted India to victory.

Iyer has a liking against spin bowlers in general. He likes to hit them straight down the ground for sixes. He will be up against Jadeja who has been hit for the most number of sixes in the IPL. Having played recently together, Iyer and Jadeja will be wary of each other strengths and weaknesses, This promises to be a riveting battle.
