Rovman Powell is shooting for the stars! The Delhi Capitals star believes he can beat Liam Livingstone for the highest six hits in the Indian Premier League’s current season.

Powell has already been in commanding form for the Delhi Capitals, and the massive West Indian is hopeful of launching a couple into the night sky as the IPL 2022 season nears its conclusion.

Rovman Powell described his power-hitting approach to teammate David Warner and assistant coach Shane Watson after Delhi Capitals’ overwhelming win over SunRisers Hyderabad in Match 50 of IPL 2022.

The 28-year-old, who made his IPL breakthrough this year for Delhi Capitals, has been making key contributions. He has a strike rate of 161 and has made 144 runs in ten outings.

During Punjab Kings’ win over Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, Livingstone hit the biggest six of IPL 2022, which traveled 117m. Albie Morkel, for example, holds the record for the longest six hits in IPL history, measuring 125 meters in 2008.

Powell was on fire on Thursday, putting together a 122-run partnership with David Warner. During his blazing 35-ball 67, the West Indies star smashed six sixes. Powell was difficult on Umran Malik and Kartik Tyagi’s breakneck speed. During his stunning attack, Powell struck the fastest delivery of IPL 2022 (at 157 kph) off Umran to the boundary.

“I believe I can get there; I even told Mandeep yesterday that I intend to hit the ball close to 130 meters. Let’s see what happens!”Powell explained to IPLT20.com.

“The trick is to avoid overhitting the ball. It’s all about the core once you’ve gotten into dominant positions and built a solid foundation. My base is powerful, and I can swing through the ball and hit a ball across the line on excellent wickets.”

“That’s pretty much what I do. When they try to bowl full, I give myself an opportunity and exploit the depth of the crease to get beneath the balls,” Powell continued.

Powell smashed six and three boundaries in the penultimate over of DC’s innings against Umran, leaving Warner stranded on 92 not out. The onslaught of Warner and Powell helped Delhi score a winning total of 207.
