Gujarat Titans are one of the two new franchises that have been added to IPL 2022. The franchise picked Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan for 15 crores in each along with Shubman Gill (8 crores) during the retention window. Thereafter in the IPL 2022 mega auction, it added 20 players to complete a 23-member squad ahead of the new season. The franchise will be led by Hardik Pandya who will be leading an IPL team for the first time in his career.

They have a good mix of Indian and overseas players. The franchise officials and the coaching staff did a good job to identify players who would fit their requirements in the mega auction. Mohammed Shami, Jason Roy, Lockie Ferguson were some of the key players bought by the team during the IPL 2022 auction.

Roy was recently a part of the PSL where he played a few explosive innings with the bat. He has scored 303 runs in seven games so far in the tournament. The England opener was roped in by the franchise for his base price of 2 crores and is looked as a long-term option by the franchise.

Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan will be the lead spinner in Gujarat’s bowling attack. He has been one of the most successful spinners in the last three to four years in the IPL. For SRH he bagged 93 wickets during his four-year stay with the franchise. Gujarat would ideally hope that he replicates his form and plays a key role behind them winning an IPL title.

Lockie Ferguson

Ferguson is Gujarat’s most expensive from in the squad. The franchise splashed 10 crores to avail of his services in the mega auction. The pacer was a regular for Kolkata Knight Riders in the last two IPL seasons. So far in 22 IPL matches, he has picked 24 wickets. His most memorable spell was bowling KKR to a win in the Super Over against SRH in IPL 2020.

Alzarri Joseph

Joseph might be the fourth overseas option that Gujarat Titans would like to go within their playing XI. Both Ferguson and Joseph would add to the pace quotient for the team. The franchise roped him in for 2.4 crores. So far in three IPL games, he has picked six wickets. All his six wickets came in one match against SH in 2019 when he bowled a spell of 6/12, which is the best figure in IPL history.
