Google’s entry into the world of sports broadcasting and especially cricket highlights the high-intensity affair that the media houses go through to broadcast the sport which the entire country loves. Last year’s IPL brought in 600 million viewers, according to BCCI estimates. However, the board has denied any such estimate and has not said anything official on the matter yet.

The official auction for the broadcasting rights for the next cycle (2023-2027) will be starting on June 12. Sources close to the BCCI further said that buying the official documents does not lead to a certain offer and the players can pull out anytime if they think so.

Coming down to IPL 2022, the season is reaching its business end with all the teams having played 11 to 12 games. Gujarat Titans became the first team to make it to the playoffs after they won against Lucknow Super Giants in the last game. Lucknow’s place on 16 points is just one win away from sealing their playoffs berth. RR and RCB are placed third and fourth respectively on the points table at the moment. Barring Mumbai who is out of the tournament, every team is still within a chance to make it to the final four.
