Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul took to Twitter to show appreciation to the team management, his teammates and the LSG fans for their support after his team bowed out of the IPL 2022 season after losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 25 in the Eliminator match in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made an impressive debut in the IPL 2022 edition as they qualified for the final four at the 3rd spot. KL Rahul led from the front scoring 616 runs in 15 matches with two centuries an average of over 50 and a strike rate of 136 plus.

He even added an IPL record opening partnership of 210 runs with Quinton de Kock in one of the matches where his partner made 140* and he made a half-century. This was the first time an opening pair batted for the whole 20 overs and the first time two batters played out entire innings in T20 cricket.

However, LSG fell at the last hurdle when they clashed with RCB in the Eliminator match of the IPL 2022. The match was delayed a bit due to rain and wet outfield. KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bowl first. Mohsin Khan even got RCB captain Faf du Plessis out for a golden duck.

But then Rajat Patidar slammed 112* in 54 balls with 12 fours and 7 sixes and along with 25 from Virat Kohli and 37* from Dinesh Karthik, taking RCB to a daunting total of 207/4 in 20 overs.

Rahul led from the front, making 79 runs and Deepak Hooda made 45 runs, but LSG left it a little too late for the last burst of big hits and fell 14 runs short in the end, getting eliminated from the IPL 2022, albeit a great outing in their maiden IPL tournament.

KL Rahul took to Twitter to send a message to management, fans and his teammates.

He posted: ???Inspiration all around me. A special first season comes to an end. Not the way we wanted, but we gave it absolutely everything till the very end. Thank you to the LSG family. To all our support staff, team management and Dr. Goenka. Lastly, thank you to our fans for all the love you???ve shown us over our first season. We???ll be back???
