IPL 2022: The Way Dewald Brevis Is Going About His Work, He's Very Committed - MI Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene
Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mahela Jayawardene is quite pleased with the commitment shown by upcoming South African youngster, Dewald Brevis, in the practice sessions ahead of the IPL 2022 season.
Brevis, fondly known as ‘AB 2.0’ or ‘Baby AB’, was bought by MI for INR 3 crores in the mega auction. He was brilliant for South Africa U-19 team in the U-19 World Cup that was held recently. Jayawardene is excited to see how he performs in this season.
“Well, we haven’t finalised who we’re going to play. It’s too early for us to give that kind of information. But, very excited to see him [Brevis] in the nets, the way he’s going about it, he’s a very committed young man.”
“He’s quite keen to learn and that’s a good sign. So I think all the coaches, everyone here is quite excited, [for not only] Brevis but some of the other young Indian talents that we’ve got this season. They’re refreshing, brilliant to work with. Looking forward to [the time] when they get an opportunity, when they can actually show how good they are,” Jayawardene said in an online press conference.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma confirmed that Ishan Kishan will be his opening partner. Suryakumar Yadav, when he gets back into the thick of things, is likely to continue batting at No.4, his usual position.
“I will open the batting. I have been doing that in the past so I’m looking forward to open with Ishan Kishan,” Rohit said during the same press conference.
