IPL 2022: Their Backs Are Against The Wall, They Are Cornered Tigers – Ravi Shastri On MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Former India National Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri has said that the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the “cornered tigers” in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Chennai Super Kings are at the 9th spot in the Indian Premier League 2022 points table with 3 wins and 7 defeats in 10 outings. They are practically out of the IPL 2022 playoffs race, however, there is always a chance mathematically.

Meanwhile, Shastri has said that Dhoni’s mindset will be to win every game from now onwards and the message in the dressing room would be to play fearless cricket.

“His mindset will be to win every game, but don’t forget he is 7-8 years older than when he could do it at ease. Having said that, don’t write them off. There is the pressure of having lost the first few games under Jadeja. Their backs are against the wall, they are cornered tigers.

“They can win everything, and the message will be to just go and express yourself. Play freely, play fearless cricket. If we lost, we are out of this competition, but each game we win, our confidence will only go up,” Shastri said on Star Sports.

MS Dhoni is a great captain and motivator – Graeme Swann

Former England spinner Graeme Swann has said that Dhoni is a great captain and motivator and with him returning to captaincy there is a hope that the 4-time champions would make it to the top-4.

“MS is a great captain and motivator. You only have to see it by the number of yellow people present on the ground. Dhoni’s impact is such that even though the situation seems hopeless, his very nature, now that he has got the captaincy, people are looking up to him again. They could well be hitting that top for,” Swann pointed out.
