As IPL 2022 league phase enters its business end, most teams are still in consideration for a final-4 spot. Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals are looking to get into the playoffs and in that context Match, 58 on Wednesday was a very important game. RR lost the game by 8 wickets.

Had Rajasthan won the game they would have one foot in the playoffs. But DC’s win have not only kept them in the hunt. But also given a chance to others teams to come from behind and replace RR in the top 4.

Batting first RR scored 160 runs on the back of a maiden half-century by Ravichandran Ashwin who came into bat at 3. Devdutt Padikkal scored 48 valuable runs as well. But other RR batters struggled. Chetan Shakariya was the top performer with the ball for DC as he picked up 2 wickets for 23 runs in his 4 overs.

DC didn’t have the best of starts to their chase as KS Bharat got out in the first over. But then the Australian pair of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh rode their luck and had the best partnership for DC this season. They added 144 for the second wicket and eventually, DC won by 8 wickets.

Delhi Capitals have now 12 points, while RR still sit with 14 points. Gujarat Titans is the only team guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.

Updated Orange Cap:

Jos Buttler scored only 7 runs, but he is still way ahead in this list. David Warner has crossed 400 runs in a season for the 8th time in the IPL. He now sits in the 3rd position.

Updated Purple Cap:


Yuzvendra Chahal could have picked up a couple of more wickets if luck was on his side, but despite that, he still leads the charts as he picked up the wicket of Marsh towards the end.
