The IPL 2022 has thrown up some surprising calls by Mumbai Indians who have invested heavily on Tim David and Jofra Archer. The five-time IPL champions made some determined calls over the two days of the mega auction. Though it failed to retain the entire core group, they managed to buy back Ishan Kishan and lost out on getting the likes of Trent Boult and Krunal Pandya.

Mumbai Indians have bought some expensive players in the past along with Kishan, David and Archer that they did in the IPL 2022 mega auction, The side has backed the players that they have bought in the past and they have kept their trust with performances as well. The last name in this elite list of players is that of Jofra Archer. He registered his name for the IPL 2022 mega auction despite being injured. The ECB warned all the franchises saying that no replacement will be allowed for him if he gets injured and missed the tournament. However, despite all the warnings, Mumbai shelled out a whopping 8 crores to acquire his services. He will pair up with Jasprit Bumrah for the franchise. It will be interesting to see how many games he plays for the franchise with all his injury concerns.

Despite Tim David being a relatively unknown name in IPL cricket, Mumbai Indians splashed 8.25 crores to acquire his services in the IPL 2022 mega auction. He played just one game for RCB in IPL 2021. The Singapore-born cricketer has played 11 T20Is and has a few stints across various T20 leagues around the world. Mumbai, however, bagged him in for the hefty price after being involved in a little bit of a battle from KKR who backed out midway.

Krunal Pandya (8.8 Cr)

Krunal joined Mumbai Indians in 2016. However, they had to release him ahead of the 2018 mega auction. However, the franchise used the RTM card and retained him for 8.8 crores in the 2018 auction. Mumbai fought a fierce bidding war with Royal Challengers Bangalore and ultimately won it as Krunal was roped in by the franchise. He won three IPL titles with the franchise. IN the IPL 2022 mega auction he was bought by Lucknow Supergiants for a hefty 8.25 crores.

Rohit Sharma (9.2 Cr)

Rohit Sharma was bought by Mumbai Indians for a whopping price of 9.2 crores in the IPL 2011 mega auction. Since then, Rohit has been playing with the franchise. He was named as the captain of Mumbai in 2013 and since then he has helped the team win five titles in the next eight seasons.

Ishan Kishan (15.25 Cr)

The franchise invested heavily in the Indian cricketer who was roped in at 15.25 crores. Kishan scored 516 runs in 14 innings at an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 145.76 with 4 50+ scores in IPL 2020 for the franchise. That paved the path for his international debut. Mumbai have been one of the franchises that have backed their players and when they failed to retain much of the core that they had in the last few years, they pull all their might and money to get back Kishan.
