IPL Auction 2022: Raj Bawa Has Got That X-Factor - Former Indian Cricketer Believes He Is A Future Star

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif insisted that Indian U-19 World Cup-winning all-rounder Raj Bawa has got what it takes to make it big and him bagging an IPL contract in IPL auction 2022 is just the start of it.

Bawa won the Player of the Match award in the final against England for his five-wicket haul. In addition, he broke Shikhar Dhawan‘s long-standing individual high score of 155 with a brilliant 162 against Uganda.

“I had seen the final… Bawa has got that X-Factor. Franchises look whether a player has got the talent to become a future star in the IPL. Bawa has got that talent.”

“He was bowling excellent bouncers in the U19 World Cup and he fetched ₹2 crore today because of his skill-set. He didn’t earn that big sum just because of his performance in the final. He’s got that X-Factor too,” Kaif mentioned on Star Sports.

Bawa was expected to attract a lot of bids in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Punjab Kings went after him quite aggressively, outbidding the other franchises with a winning bid of INR 2 crores.

“When you choose U19 players in the team, you don’t know how will they perform in the IPL. But you are investing in the future. You hope that the stock purchased gives you better returns in the future,” Irfan Pathan added.

Rajvardhan Hangarekar and Yash Dhull were the other two U-19 players who were bought by CSK and DC respectively.
