England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer was snapped up by Mumbai Indians (MI) for INR 8 crores on Day 2 of the ongoing IPL 2022 mega auction.

Archer’s availability for this season was already under doubt but it didn’t stop the franchises from going after the talented pacer. The bidding for Archer began at his base price of INR 2 crores.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) started things off to get back their ace bowler. MI came in hard as they kept their paddle raised throughout. It was quite clear that MI had planned to bid for Archer as they had saved a majority of their purse, expecting tough competition for Archer.

That was the case as once RR backed out, Sunrisers Hyderabad jumped in and began bidding. MI kept up and eventually outbid SRH, who were running low on funds and needed to fill other spaces in the squad.

Expectedly, the Mumbai camp was elated with their buy and will be hoping to gain the services of the Englishman very soon. There has also been confirmation that if Archer cannot play in this season, there will not be an option for replacement.
