Former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel said Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav will take more confidence from the match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kuldeep produced a match-winning performance against his former IPL team as he scalped four wickets for 35 runs to help Delhi Capitals clinch the game by 44 runs.
That would give Kuldeep Yadav more confidence than the four wickets: Parthiv Patel
Kuldeep got the big wicket of KKR spinner Shreyas Iyer, who failed to pick up the left-arm spinner’s googly while coming down the track and Rishabh Pant removed the bails to complete the dismissal. In the 16th over, Kuldeep got the wickets of Pat Cummins, Umesh Yadav and Sunil Narine to claim a four-for. KKR were eventually bowled out for 171 to lose their second match of the season.
“Andre Russell scored 24 runs off 21 deliveries, and of those 21 deliveries, he played 6-7 balls (Russell just played three balls) against Kuldeep Yadav. We are obviously seeing Kuldeep’s four wickets, but he also kept a player like Andre Russell quiet — that too on a pitch where the ball wasn’t turning much,” Parthiv said on Cricbuzz.
“So, I think that would give him more confidence than the four wickets he took, as held back Andre Russell,” he added.
Shreyas Iyer was a very big wicket: Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep was awarded player of the match for his tremendous efforts with the ball. The left-arm wrist-spinner said Shreyas Iyer’s wicket was the most important for him in the match.
“It is important to pause and think about what you are bowling. It is a very good wicket to bat on and you need a lot of heart to bowl on it. The side boundaries are slightly longer and hence the lengths become very important,” Kuldeep said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
“It was gripping, so I was mixing my pace as well. Shreyas was batting well and I wanted to make him guess. It was a very big wicket. I thought his wicket was personally very important. He was the main batsman for the team.
“I am not trying too much. I am just focussing on my rhythm ever since I came back to the Indian team. The lengths were really good in all my wickets against both Shreyas and Cummins,” he added.
Kuldeep was sold to Delhi Capitals for INR 2 crore, the spinner is very keen to prove his credentials for his new franchise as he has amassed 10 wickets in four games of IPL 2022 so far, he is just one wicket behind his spin twin Yuzvendra Chahal.
