The 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) was played between KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, May 15.

Rajasthan Royals won the match by 24 runs against Lucknow Super Giants to bag their 8th win and reach 16 points mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat first in the match. They made two big changes to the playing XI as Jimmy Neesham replaced Rassie Van Der Duusen and Obed Mccoy replaced Kuldeep Sen. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants made just one change as Ravi Bishnoi replaced Karan Sharma.

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals openers – Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal – were unable to have a good partnership as the 31-year-old England wicketkeeper-batsman was dismissed by Avesh Khan on the second ball of the 3rd over.

With the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson’s good batting, Rajasthan Royals were able to score 51/1 in the powerplay overs. Meanwhile, Jason Holder got the second breakthrough for LSG by dismissing RR skipper Sanju Samson for 32 in the 9th over.

Then, Ayush Badoni broke the 26 runs partnership between Devdutt Padikkal and Yashasvi Jaiswal by dismissing the latter, who scored 41 runs off 29 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six.

Also, Devdutt Padikkal scored amazing 39 runs off 18 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes before getting dismissed by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the 14th over.

After that, Riyan Parag, James Neesham, Ravichandran Ashwin and Trent Boult made significant contributions to help RR post 178/6 on the board.

Chasing the target, Lucknow Super Giants were off to a poor start as Quinton de Kock and Ayush Badoni were dismissed by Trent Boult in the 3rd over. Also, skipper KL Rahul was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the 6th over. At the end of the powerplay, Lucknow Super Giants were at 34/3.

Then, Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda had a brilliant 65 runs partnership in 46 balls, before the former was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin in the 14th over.

After that LSG lost 3 quick wickets as Deepak Hooda was dismissed for 59 by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 16th over while Jason Holder and Dushmantha Chameera got out in the 17th over. In the end, Marcus Stoinis was fighting alone but was unable to help LSG win and they lost their 5th match of the Indian Premier League 2022.
