RR vs CSK: Twitter Reacts As Rajasthan Book Top-2 Berth With Last-Over Victory Over Chennai

Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a spot in the top two of the IPL 2022 season following a hard-fought victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their final league game on Friday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Chennai lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early on but Moeen Ali put on a batting masterclass at the Brabourne Stadium. Just 3 runs were scored in the first two overs of the powerplay but the next 4 went for 72 runs.

Moeen took a liking to Trent Boult, smashing 26 runs off him in the 6th over. However, things spiraled downwards after the first strategic timeout as CSK lost its way following the departure of Devon Conway.

MS Dhoni and Moeen stabilized the innings but neither found their rhythm towards the end and Chennai ended with 150 on the board. In reply, Jos Buttler fell for 2, marking another failure for the right-hander.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a measured 44-ball 59 while Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal had forgettable outings. The responsibility fell to Shimron Hetmyer but it was Ravichandran Ashwin who stole the show.

The all-rounder paced his innings and stayed till the end to script a remarkable victory for the Rajasthan franchise. Ashwin ended up unbeaten on 40 off just 23 balls and rightfully bagged the Player of the Match award. The win sends Rajasthan into the second spot and they will face off against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1.
