RR vs RCB: I Was Telling Myself I'm Not Done Yet - Dinesh Karthik On Cricketing Career
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicket-keeper batter, Dinesh Karthik, revealed that he wanted to do better in the past few IPL season but failed to do so. However, he convinced himself that it isn’t the end of the road yet and there is still a lot of cricket left in him.
Karthik proved the same in RCB’s third game against RR, where he smashed a 23-ball 44 and took the Bangalore team over the line from certain defeat. He has been given the role of a finisher and so far, he has done a brilliant job.
“I made a conscious effort to do justice to myself. Felt I could have done better in the last few years. The way I’ve trained has been different. I was telling myself I’m not done yet.”
“I have a goal and I want to achieve something. We needed 12 runs an over, so you need to figure out what to do. Stay calm, know your game and who you can take on,” Karthik said while accepting the Player of the Match award at the post-match presentation ceremony.
“The real work is done in the lead-up” – Dinesh Karthik
Karthik further mentioned that the number of hours he put in has helped him develop his game and confidence. The training sessions are an important part of a player’s routine where he can find the flaws in his game and Karthik improved the most during these.
“Made an effort to play white-ball cricket, practice matches, and scenarios. Those are the hours you put in when no one sees. The real work is done in the lead-up, which is what I’ll give credit to. You have to premeditate in T20, but if it’s not there, you have to have the ability to change the shot,” he added.
RCB defeated RR by four wickets and they now have 2 wins in 3 matches.
