The IPL 2021 saw a lot of youngsters performing on the biggest stages and they have shown a lot of promise to play for India in a few years’ time through their performances. It was unfortunate that the youngsters could not continue their good run of form as the tournament has been suspended in the midway due to the pandemic situation in the country.

The IPL is a big platform the domestic players who wanted to shine on the big stages and gain a lot of experience by sharing the dressing room with overseas stars. It takes a lot of effort and hard work to have got to the stage they were in and here are 5 uncapped players who can play for team India on IPL 2021 performance basis.

Varun Chakravarthy:

The mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy who had an excellent IPL last year continued his form into this IPL too. He was rewarded a maiden Indian call-up after his exploits last year but couldn’t join the team due to his fitness issues. He has been very economical and has been the best bowler from the Kolkata Knight Riders.

He can certainly pick up a lot of wickets and can bowl at any time during the powerplay or the back end of the innings. He has a lot of variations and it will be interesting if he gets another call up to the Indian side after his impressive stint this year again. He picked up 7 wickets in 7 games and will be a great match-winner for India in the T20s.

Avesh Khan:

Avesh Khan first came into the scene after his stint in the U-19 world cup for India two years back and he has grown in heaps and bounds as a fast bowler. He was serving as a net bowler in the Test series against Australia and it has certainly improved his lines and lengths. He was very impressive in the IPL 2021 for Delhi Capitals.

Avesh was the second-highest wicket-taker this season and all the experts praised him a lot for the maturity he showed in the absence of the senior bowler. He picked up 14 wickets in 8 games and was very consistent with picking up wickets at regular intervals. He also was very economical and executed the yorkers really well. He will certainly be on the radar of the selectors.

Chetan Sakariya:

Chetan Sakariya was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals after his excellent performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and he had a wonderful start to his IPL career. He picked up three wickets in the first game he played against the Punjab Kings and has been bowling really well.

The left-arm seamer bowled a great line with the new ball and was very effective in the powerplay. He picked up 7 wickets in 7 games for the Royals and took a great catch in his debut IPL game. He is one of the youngsters to watch out for in the future and has shown a lot of composure.

Harshal Patel was a great find for RCB this year and he was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He picked up 17 wickets in 7 games and led the race for the orange cap very easily. He has been playing IPL for a long time now and his domestic experience and form have helped him this year to a major extent.

Harshal Patel showed his prowess with the bat too scoring 31 off just 13 balls in the game against Punjab Kings and his variations at the death produced a lot of wickets. He picked up a five-wicket haul in the first game against Mumbai Indians and hasn’t stopped going after that. He will be a good prospect for the future.

Devdutt Padikkal:

The elegant left-hander from Karnataka started his IPL career brilliantly in the last season for RCB and this year turned out to be an even more delightful outing for him. He scored his maiden IPL century against the Rajasthan Royals and has been playing really well at the top of the order for RCB.

Padikkal who missed the first game played 6 games this year and scored 195 runs. His strike rate was a concern last year as it started to dip after the powerplay, but he worked on it certainly and has hit a lot more boundaries this year. He had an excellent Vijay Hazare Trophy and is not far from being selected for India in the near future.
