IPL 2021: Dwayne Bravo States That Experience Beats Youth Any day After CSK Claims Their Fourth IPL Trophy
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was ecstatic after his side defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final of the IPL 2021 season to lift their fourth IPL trophy. They are now only one title behind matching Mumbai Indians’ record of five IPL trophies.
Bravo revealed that he prefers experienced players over youth any day. Part of his statement stems from the fact that Chennai has plenty of players in their 30s but has consistently managed to be one of the best sides in the IPL. With experience, the tough moments can be clutched out, and the players perform in big matches.
“Owed it to the franchise, the fans to come up with a better performance. Don’t get nervous (coming into a final). Have had a good performance in different phases of the tournament. Faf and Ruturaj stand out for us.”
“To have these two guys scoring over 500 runs together. Experience beats youth any day. Going to change the name from Mr. Champion to Sir Champion,” Bravo said in the post-match celebrations.
Dwayne Bravo’s claims backed by CSK performances
His comments were justified, with Faf du Plessis scoring a brilliant 86 off 59 balls in the first innings, which consequently earned him the Man of the Final award. The bowling attack then completed the comfortable win, making MS Dhoni’s 300th match as the skipper a memorable one.
The win was also Bravo’s 16th title as a player in T20 history, and he now leads the race for most titles in T20 cricket. Teammate Kieron Pollard comes in a close second with 15 titles, followed by Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik with 12, Rohit Sharma with 10, and Lasith Malinga with 9.
