BCCI on Wednesday announced India’s squad for ICC T20 T20 World Cup 2021. Under skipper Virat Kohli, the 15-man squad comprise batsmen like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya. For wicket-keepers, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan have been picked. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are the two all-rounders in the squad. For pacers, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami have made it into the squad.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s inclusion into the India squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2021 was a little surprising thing. While Ashwin has been a regular member of India’s Test squad, he last played a T20I game for India in July 2017 against West Indies.

However, it looks like MS Dhoni might have opined for Ashwin’s inclusion. In the absence of injured Washington Sundar, Ravichandran Ashwin is the top contender for an off-spinner. Moreover, Ashwin has given a consistent show in the last few seasons of the Indian Premier League.
