IPL 2021: It Was Surreal To See MS Dhoni In Front Of Me - Venkatesh Iyer
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Venkatesh Iyer shared his experience of meeting with the legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, MS Dhoni. Iyer was one of the finds of the IPL 2021 season, contributing with both bat and ball for Kolkata.
On the back of his partnership at the top with Shubman Gill, KKR managed to reach the final but failed on the final hurdle. Nevertheless, the experience of playing the tournament and meeting Dhoni was an amazing feeling, as explained by Iyer.
“I could not talk to him, I was in complete awe. I just kept watching & observing him on the ground. He is exactly like what everyone describes about him.”
“It was surreal to see him in front of me. He was so calm, so cool. From far I can make out how calmly he conducts himself, creates strategies that can change the course of the match. He is rightly called ‘Captain Cool’,” Iyer was quoted as saying to InsideSport.

The 26-year-old Venkatesh Iyer was recently added to India’s group of net bowlers for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The opportunity to meet the senior players of the Indian team would be exciting, and Iyer also stated that he is keen to contribute in any way he can.
“I can’t describe, how happy I feel. I have been given this opportunity, I will contribute to the best of my abilities. I don’t know what future holds for me, I will just give my best whenever & in whatever way I am given a chance by the BCCI,” Iyer added.
