On Sunday, October 3, Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced off each other in the 49th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders won the game by 6 wickets to bag two crucial points.
Both the teams were entering the match with a defeat in their last game. As Sunrisers Hyderabad lost against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders lost against Punjab Kings.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bat first. They made one change in playing XI as Umran Malik replaced pacer Sandeep Sharma. Also, Kolkata Knight Riders finally added Shakib Al Hasan to the squad by dropping Tim Seifert from the playing XI.
The decision of batting first turned out to be a horrible one for Kane Williamson and co. as they lost Wriddhiman Saha on duck in the second ball of the innings. Also, explosive English opener Jason Roy was sent back to the pavilion in the 4th over of the match.
The skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad Kane Williamson contributed 26 runs but got run out in the 7th over, leaving the responsibility on the young guns of the team. Abhishek Sharma was unable to handle the pressure and got out at a score of 6. Meanwhile, Priyam Garg and Abdul Samad fought well but were unable to survive for a long time against the Kolkata Knight Riders bowling unit.
In the end, after a lot of struggle Kane Williamson and co. posted 115 runs on the board at the loss of 8 wickets.

Chasing the target Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a slow start as Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer scored 11 runs in 3 overs. In the 5th over Jason Holder was able to scalp the wicket of Iyer. Also, Rahul Tripathi was sent back to the pavilion by Rashid Khan in the 7th over.
However, Shubman Gill stood strong in one end and batted brilliantly scoring a half-century, but he was unable to lead his team towards victory as he lost his wicket in the 17th over.
Later, former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Dinesh Karthik and current KKR captain Eoin Morgan led the team towards victory.
