Punjab Kings made a sedate start in the ongoing clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in Ahmedabad before captain KL Rahul departed. KL Rahul, who scored a crucial fifty in the last match against the Mumbai Indians in a winning effort, could not get going. Pacer Pat Cummins struck first blood to remove the opposing captain for 19 off 20 deliveries.
The dismissal occurred in the fifth over as KL Rahul looked to dominate the Knight Riders’ bowlers and get going. The right-handed batsman wanted to loft a length ball down the ground; however, he did not middle it. Rahul got a mere edge and Sunil Narine took the catch at the edge of the circle. It was a significant breakthrough for Pat Cummins as well, having gone for 12 in his first over.

Kolkata Knight Riders, who won the toss and elected to bowl, have fielded an unchanged side ahead of the crucial clash against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad. On the other hand, Punjab Kings benched Fabian Allen and brought in pace bowler Chris Jordan. The Knight Riders have won only one game out of five in IPL 2021, while Punjab Kings have fared slightly better, emerging triumphant in a couple.
