Like all the franchises they also had eyes on Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green for filling up the all-rounder’s slot. They had a pretty solid first XI and needed overall backups which they did manage to buy.
Speaking about The IPL 2023 auction, The BCCI further shortened the list from 991 to 405 players as they announced the final list of players. 369 players were initially shortlisted by 10 teams, but later 36 additional players were requested and they were added to the final list.

Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler had a year to remember in 2022. He won the Orange Cap scoring 863 runs in 17 matches taking them to the finals and also won the T20 World Cup 2022 as England’s T20I captain. Buttler is in the form of his life in white-ball cricket especially scoring runs for fun. He will be the most important batter for RR again in IPL 2023. Buttler scored four centuries in IPL 2022 and he would like to start from where he left off last season.
Sanju Samson
While he has stayed away from the national team for most of his career, he is very much the force behind the Rajasthan Royals. Under his captaincy, the team reached the final last year after a long gap of 14 years. After Buttler, he is the most important batter on the side.
He scored 458 runs last season from 17 matches. One important aspect of his game yet again will be his captaincy and how he identifies the strengths and the weaknesses of the opposition.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Chahal will be one of the leading Indian spinners to play in IPL 2023. He picked up 27 wickets last season ending as the Purple Cap winner. After staying out of the team during the T20 World Cup, he is back amongst the wickets in the white-ball format for India.
He will have Ravichandran Ashwin from the other end and the duo can weave their magic over the opposition. Along with Buttler and Samson, Chchal is definitely a candidate to win the player of the tournament award in IPL 2023.
