IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Teams Which Can Pick Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal was one of the nine Punjab Kings players released ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Punjab retained him for 12 crores ahead of IPL 2022 and named him as the captain of the side. However, he endured a forgetful campaign after which the management decided to part ways with him.

In 12 innings, the right-handed batsman scored just 196 runs at an average of 16.33 with just 1 fifty in one game in IPL 2022.?? Following this decision The Kings’ management named Shikhar Dhawan as the captain of the franchise for IPL 2023. Mayank scored 1513 runs in 60 games for the franchise overall between 2020-2022 including nine fifties and a century.

Punjab Kings will head into the IPL 2023 auction with a remaining purse of INR 32. 20 crores with three overseas slots remaining. They are looking to buy two out of Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green all of whom will be taking part in the upcoming auction.

Lucknow Super Giants

KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock are the regular options to open the batting for the franchise. Rahul has played alongside Mayank at Punjab Kings and might influence the franchise owners to add him to their squad. The way, he performed in the last IPL season, not many franchises will be influenced to take him in.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR released the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Aaron Finch during the retention window. Alex Hales has also decided to opt out for personal reasons. Keeping their options in mind, there is an outside chance that KKR might go for Mayank knowing very well that he is not in the best of form.
