IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Teams Which Can Target Fabian Allen

Fabian Allen was one of the 13 players released by Mumbai Indians on the IPL 2023 retention day. The BCCI gave franchises time till November 15 to submit the list of retained and released players. The IPL 2023 mini-auction will be held on December 23 in Kochi.

Along with Allen, the likes of Tymal Mills, Riley Meredith, Daniel Sams, and Jaydev Unadkat were released as well. Kieron Pollard was also released by the franchise after he played for the franchise for more than a decade. His release was symbolic of the fact that Mumbai are looking for a revamp after finishing last in 2022.

Mumbai Indians finished last in IPL 2022 winning four and losing 10 games. Nothing seemed to work for skipper Rohit Sharma. All the decisions he took turned out to be wrong. He picked up 1 for 46 in the only match that he played against LSG last year. He often used to field in place of the regular players on the field.

His IPL credentials are not too promising however to attract the attention of the bidders this time around. Alle is a well-traveled T20 cricketer having played in the PSL, CPL BPL, Lanka Premier League, and even in the Abu Dhabi T10 League for Team Abu Dhabi.

With over 40 crores purse remaining and the franchise looking to overhaul their entire squad, Allen can be on the radar of the SRH. He is a power-hitter in the lower-order useful spinner and a brilliant fielder to boost his credentials. They have to figure out a way to regularly give him games in the next season. He was picked up previously by Hyderabad in the IPL 2020 auction for 50 lakhs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB might be one of the other teams interested in buying Fabian Allen. They retained Glenn Maxwell despite his poor recent form. He also recently fractured his left leg at a friend’s part after which he underwent surgery. He is out of Australia’s ongoing series against England and might miss the BBL and the India series. RCB can buy Fabian Allen as his backup in the upcoming IPL 2023 auction.

Lucknow Super Giants

LSG built their team banking on several all-rounders ahead of IPL 2022. After the first season, they have released seven players including former West Indies skipper Jason Holder.

Fabian Allen with his athletic fielding ability and his promise with both bat and ball can be a good buy for the franchises. Each of the three franchises mentioned above needs to give him enough games to prove his potential.
