The overall amount was increased from 90 to 95 crores. A total of 650 players are expected to be part of the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

SRH have the highest remaining purse heading into the auction (42.25 crores) while KKR have the lowest (7.05 crore). In this article, we take a look at five players who can get the highest bid in the upcoming auction.

IPL 2023 Auction: 5 Players Who Can Get The Highest Bid In The Auction

1) Ben Stokes

As per reports, Ben Stokes is willing to enroll his name in the upcoming IPL 2023 mini-auction. He last played in the IPL in 2021 for the Rajasthan Royals. He was out on a duck in the last match he played for the franchise. Injuries and international commitments were the reasons behind him taking a break from the IPL 2022.

Now after winning the T20 World Cup with England, Stokes said that he is willing to get into the auction. He will be one of the star attractions in the auction with potentially all the franchises looking to go behind him.

Reports say that Punjab Kings are willing to go big behind him, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green. So far in the IPL, Stokes had played 42 matches scoring 920 runs and picking up 28 wickets. He has also scored two hundred in the format.

2) Sam Curran

Curran along with Stokes won the recent T20 World Cup for England. He missed the previous IPL season with an injury. Curran last played in the IPL in 2021 for Chennai Super Kings. He made his debut in the IPL for Punjab Kings in 2019 and then was picked by CSK for 5.5 crores. He grew as a cricketer under MS Dhoni at CSK.

In 23 matches for CSK, he took 23 wickets and scored over 250 runs for the franchise. In his own words, he admired MSD the skipper, and spoke about improving as a cricketer. Curran recently won the Man of The Tournament award for picking 13 wickets for England in their victorious campaign.

At the peak of his powers, Curran is expected to fetch a few crores in the upcoming auction with franchises planning and plotting to get him in.

3) Cameron Green

23-year-old Cameron Green will be making his debut in IPL 2023. So far in his short international career, he has played 14 Tests, 13 ODIs, and 8 T20Is. He made his T20I debut in the series against Pakistan earlier this year.

However, the management discovered his real potential in the series against India just before the T20 World Cup. He scored two back-to-back fifties in the first two T20Is.

Those two innings showed his potential and power as a cricketer. Being an all-rounder, he is also a handy bowler, which will add to his credentials. With many franchises looking for quality all-rounders, Green will be one of the most sort out players in the auction.

4) Adil Rashid

Rashid is one of the leading leg spinners in modern cricket. He recently played a big role in England’s World Cup win. He took two for 22 in the final against Pakistan. He has picked up 19 wickets in 22 T20Is this year. In the World Cup, he did not pick up too many wickets but bowled economically.

In the final he made his presence felt by picking two crucial wickets. With this IPL being played in India, every team will be on the lookout for quality leg spinners. Teams like CSK and KKR who have historically been dependent on their spinners can keep him on their radar.

His recent World Cup success might make him one of the highest bidders. He has played only one game in the IPL to date which was for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021.

5) Kane Williamson

Williamson was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Having been released by them, several franchises will be on the lookout for him. He has a proven record in the IPL having scored over 2000 runs in 75 innings in the league.

He has scored 18 fifties in the format. While the league demands power hitters, there is a place for batters like him who can anchor the innings as well. Captaincy is another facet of his game.

Under him, the Kiwi side has been the most consistent in the last few years making the knockouts of the ICC events. Knowing his potential as a player and captain some franchises should go for him in the mega auctions.
