England National Cricket Team red-ball captain Ben Stokes, who is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the world, has shown interest in participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and he is expected to enter the IPL 2023 mini-auction, as per a report in Cricbuzz.

Ben Stokes made his IPL debut in 2017 as he was bought by now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant for a whopping INR 14.5 crore and he performed exceptionally well in that season. In IPL 2018 auction he was bought for INR 12.5 crore by Rajasthan Royals and he stayed with the franchise till IPL 2021.

The all-rounder was released by the franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction and he had also skipped the auction earlier this year.

“He seems to be showing interest to be part of the IPL next year despite the fact that the Ashes series immediately follows the T20 league in the 2023 summer,” Cricbuzz reported.

The Ashes 2023 is scheduled to commence on June 16 and the Indian Premier League 2023 is likely to end in late May or early June. Also, the availability of England and Australian players has been a major point of debate among the IPL franchises.

Stokes will be leading England for the first time in the Ashes and he will be looking forward to taking revenge after the humiliating defeat in the Ashes 2021-22.

Alongside Ben Stokes, young England fast-bowling all-rounder Sam Curran and young Australian fast-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green are likely to enter the Indian Premier League 2023 mini-auction. The young all-rounders are reportedly keen to participate in the cash-rich league.

Notably, Sam Curran has already played for the Punjab franchise and the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, Green has never participated in the marquee T20 league.

Meanwhile, all ten Indian Premier League (IPL) teams have been asked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India to submit the list of the retained players by November 15 and franchises are making strategies on creating a surplus in the salary cap so that they can go to the auction with maximum funds to acquire the services of big names available at the auction.
