The Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise had a forgettable IPL 2022 where they finished in the 10th position. The 5 Time Champions were outplayed in all the 3 facets of the game. MI now has had a tactical change and made Mark Boucher, the new Head Coach for the 2023 edition.
MI needs to fill the void of Kieron Pollard who has bid adieu to IPL as finding a like-for-like replacement would be tough. The team needs to back players as chopping and changing don’t work all the time. MI fans would be hoping that the duo of Mark Boucher & Rohit Sharma perform according to their credentials.

Mark Boucher on Rohit Sharma
Mark Boucher was having an interaction with the franchise website and made interesting comments on Rohit Sharma.
“It’s going to be quite interesting. I have played against Rohit before. I think he is a fantastic player and a good leader as well, so I’m really looking forward to it. Looking forward to sitting down and having a chat with him. I think we have one or two things in common,” said Mark Boucher.

“I know he likes conservation, so that will be an interesting chat as well. So yeah, I think there are certain ways that I coach and it will be an interesting conversation to have with him. There is always expectations. It is one of the best franchises in world sport.
“And with that comes a lot of responsibility. So, I’m a guy who’s driven by results. I am very result-oriented as well. So, yes, I know that I have got to perform and the players have got to perform as well. I am really looking forward to that challenge,” he added.
Steep Road ahead for MI
MI would be hoping that Rohit Sharma hits form as the batter was quite off colour in 2022 edition where he scored 268 runs in 14 matches. The problem with MI is that they are too much dependent on their top order which makes life easier for the opposition teams.
With Kieron Pollard appointed as the batting coach, we can expect a massive change in the batting mindset. With BCCI, all set to introduce home & away venues for the 2023 edition; we can expect a lot of competitive wickets throughout the tourney.
