Deepak Chahar has been a key figure in CSK’s fifth IPL title win. He missed the first half of the season due to injury but played a key role ever since his return to the side. He finished the season with 12 wickets from nine matches including a spell of 1 for 38 in the final.
Deepak Chahar continuously picked wickets inside the powerplay. He is now the leader pacer in the side with a few young pacers in the mix. Chahar’s rise as a strike bowler for India has been another gift from MS Dhoni to Indian cricket.

In the chase, CSK won in the most dramatic fashion with Ravindra Jadeja hitting a six and a four with the Chennai Super Kings needing 15 off the final over bowled by Mohit Sharma.

Earlier in the game. CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first keeping the conditions in mind. After GT posted the highest-ever total in an IPL final of 214/4 CSK’s target was revised to 171 in 15 overs with rain interruption in the mid-innings break.
The pacer spoke about the discussion he had with Ambati Rayudu on winning the IPL. The veteran batter played his part in the run-chase scoring 19 off 8 deliveries in the tense run-chase in the final five overs.
“Every time we had a discussion, he (Rayudu) kept telling me that I am going to win the final. The belief that he has is unbelievable. When you are playing, you just want to contribute. It was a simple plan. We knew we have to perform, even if it was just one game. We have to contribute to the team to win the final” said Chahar in his post-match comments after the final.
