KKR had won the toss & elected to bowl first. It was a collective effort by Punjab Kings (PBKS) batters where they scored 191-5. Nathan Ellis, the right-arm pacer got a game for PBKS as Kagiso Rabada isn’t available due to national duties. Nathan Ellis has been a part of PBKS for the last 2 years & has got a sheer pace.

Shikhar Dhawan & Bhanuka Rajapaksa were involved in a huge partnership of 86 runs. The two batters made sure that they don’t allow KKR bowlers to settle in where the dashing left-handed batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa smashed a half-century in 32 balls where he struck 5 fours & 2 sixes & was in a beast mode.

Nathan Ellis takes a massive wicket of Rahmanullah Gurbaz

KKR got off to a shaky start as they scored 29 runs in the 4 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Nathan Ellis was introduced into the attack in the 5th over where on the 2nd delivery, Gurbaz went down the track where Ellis bowled a short-of-length delivery & thrashed his off stump. Gurbaz was dismissed for 22 runs in 16 balls where he struck 3 fours & 1 six. At that time KKR’s score was 29-3 in 4.2 overs.

KKR in deep trouble

It won’t be easy for the likes of skipper Nitish Rana & powerful hitter Andre Russell as PBKS bowlers are bowling immaculate lines & lengths. KKR have used Venkatesh Iyer as their impact player in the place of Varun Chakravarthy and he would be keen to make a case for himself.

PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan would be quite aware of the fact that they need to keep on picking wickets as KKR bat very deep & have got multiple match winners where there aren’t any significant demons in the pitch. All eyes would be on Sikandar Raza as the all-rounder can fox the batters as he has got a lot of variations.
