Outcast Indian middle-order batter Ajinkya Rahane, who last appeared for the National team during the ICC World Test Championship 2023 in Oval, has nothing but words of appreciation for the Chennai Super Kings.

Rahane, who is on his second season with the CSK, appeared to be thanking the franchise for helping him revive his career by providing him clarity and freedom to go out and display his natural gameplay.

Ajinkya Rahane's career was almost done after the Kolkata Knight Riders released him ahead of the 2023 IPL mini-auction. It was starting to feel as if Rahane might not find any suitor at the auction table but when his name popped up inside the auction room, the Chennai Super Kings latched off a deal with him.

The Stephen Fleming-led management happily spent INR 50 Lakhs, which was the batter's base price and we all know what happened next.

Ajinkya Rahane experienced one of his most prolific seasons as he touched the 300-run mark in IPL for the first time since the 2019 season when he scored 393 runs for the Rajasthan Royals. Last year, he scored 326 runs from the same amount of matches but the main thing to be noticed from his season was the strike rate.

Rahane had a strike rate of 137 in 2019 which was his best in terms of S/R but last year, that number jumped to 172.49, and that speaks volumes about the kind of freedom he has got in CSK.

What did Ajinkya Rahane say about CSK?

In an exclusive chat with CSK, Ajinkya Rahane spoke about how helpful the CSK management had been to him. Rahane, who will be turning 37 on June 6th, claimed that he had immense clarity about the role he was going to undertake for the Yellow Army and that helped him have a terrific season eventually.

Rahane also shed light on how likes to play his cricket - with freedom and positive intent. Lastly, he thanked the coaching staff of CSK for backing and trusting him at that point in his career.

"When I came to CSK last year, my role was completely clear. Whenever I get an opportunity, go out and play my game, play with freedom. That gave me clarity that I know my game really well. If I can play with freedom and positive intent, that’s my game."

"When the team management is backing you, you just have to trust them. You just go out there and play your game without thinking about the outcome." - Rahane said via CSK's YT channel.

Ajinkya Rahane's season so far

If we talk about the current season, then Rahane has already scored 119 runs from CSK's first 5 matches against RCB, GT, DC, SRH, and KKR at a 130.77 strike rate. He has averaged 29.75 till now and has been key to the team's victories over Bengaluru, Gujarat, and Kolkata.

The 36-year-old will be in action tomorrow when IPL's El Clasico takes place between Mumbai Indians and CSK at the Wankhede stadium in Sunday's evening fixture.
