RR vs LSG and GT vs MI were on the cards in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday (24th March). The first game took place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Whereas a second game of the day took place at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad. 

The first match between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants saw the Sanju Samson-led side winning the game by 20 runs and marking their first game of the season. They produced a magnificent effort with the bat and ball. 

Opting to bat first, Rajasthan Royals were off to a valiant start with the bat, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) and Jos Buttler (11). After they got out, skipper Sanju Samson made sure that he led from the front and took his team to the big total on the board. 

Sanju Samson scored 82 runs whereas Riyan Parag (43) and Dhruv Jurel (20*) played handy knocks around him. Based on their rollicking effort with the bat, Rajasthan Royals posted 193 runs on the board.  For LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq picked two wickets. 

In the chase, LSG didn’t have a great start as they lost four quick wickets. KL Rahul (58) and Nicholas Pooran (64*) tried their best but couldn’t take the team past the finishing line. RR restricted the opposition to 173 runs and won the game by 20 runs. 

The second game saw the Mumbai Indians putting the Gujarat Titans to bat first. Skipper Shubman Gill (31) and Wriddhiman Saha (19) provided a valiant start to the team. After that Sai Sudharsan (49) held the fort for his team and played a decent hand while batting at No.3. 

Azmatullah Omarzai (17) and David Miller (12) made vital contributions before Rahul Tewatia (22) finished the innings on high for his team. Gujarat Titans ended with a total of 168/6 and for Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers. He returned with the figures of 3/14. 

In the chase, Mumbai Indians lost Ishan Kishan for a duck. But after that debutant Naman Dhir played a cameo of 20 runs. After he got out, Rohit Sharma (42) and Dewald Brevis (46) played magnificently well and took the attack to the Gujarat Titans bowlers. 

But after that, Mumbai Indians lost quick wickets and were tumbling. Tilak Varma (25) and Hardik Pandya (11) tried their best but couldn’t. Gujarat Titans restricted Mumbai to runs and won the game by the margin of 6 runs.

Rajasthan Royals climbed to the top of the points table after their win in RR vs LSG. Chennai Super Kings were pushed down to second spot. Punjab Kings are third whereas Gujarat Titans entered the top four. KKR is 5th at the table whereas the the rest of the teams are yet to register a win.

Mustafizur Rahman retained his top spot in the leading wicket-takers charts. Jasprit Bumrah after his cracking spell moved to second spot. T Natarajan is in the third spot. Whereas Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav also feature in the list.
