The PBKS vs SRH IPL 024 match will be played at the Mullanpur stadium in Chandigarh on April 9, Tuesday. The match starts from 7.30 pm IST. This is the first time ever that both teams are playing at the venue.

Heading into this game, SRH and PBKS are placed fifth and sixth on the points table. Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings in their previous match while PBKS defeated Gujarat Titans.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings started off with a campaign against Delhi Capitals at this venue and are back at this venue again. They are back at Mullanpur for four matches on the trot.

In the previous match, they won chasing 200 against Gujarat Titans from a seemingly lost position. Shashank Singh (61 off 29) and Ashutosh Sharma (31 off 17) pulled PBKS back from the jaws of defeat.

The bowling attack and Jonny Bairstow's form continue to be a worry for the Kings who found their batting depth in the previous previous game. Liam Livingstone missed the previous match with an injury.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH are buoyant after their win over CSK in the previous match. It was their sixth win over Chennai Super Kings in their IPL history. They managed to chase down CSK'a target of 165. Hyderabad hav won two games at home and lost two games play away. They are yet again paying an away game. However, they have a good record against Punjab Kings winning 14 out of the 21 games. This should keep them ahead in the game.

Pitch Conditions

So far only one match has been played at the venue. Punjab Kings managed to chase down 175 against Delhi Capitals and won the match by four wickets. A score of above 170 was posted in that game. Given that it was chased down, hints at the wicket being a good one. It is expected to remain good throughout the 40 overs and we might see a high-scoring game.

Form and Fitness

Liam Livingstone missed the previous game for Punjab Kings with a hamstring injury. He was finding it tough to run in the match against LSG. The form of Jonny Bairstow seems to be a concern. Though he scored 48 in the previous game.

Given the availability of players from both sides, Lia Livingstone might miss the match too. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket Board has pulled Wanindu Hasaranga out of IPL 2024. They wrote to BCCI about his unavailability after he was asked to rehabilitate with the T20 World Cup coming up to recover from his ankle injury.

Tactical Acumen

SRH will now miss Wanindu Hasaranga for the remainder of the tournament as he was pulled out from the tournament by SLC. The franchise is looking for a replacement. They missed him dealy with the ball. For Punjab Kings, playing at home, they need to identify their strengths and accordingly decide to either bat first or chase at the toss.
