IND vs NZ 2021: Graeme Swann Heaps Praise On An Upcoming Indian Youngster, Reveals Michael Hussey's Words About Him

Former England spinner Graeme Swann hailed Ruturaj Gaikwad for his wonderful show in the IPL 2021 and wanted him to see in the Indian colours soon in the New Zealand series. Gaikwad finished as the orange cap holder in the season and was one of the key factors in Chennai Super Kings winning their fourth IPL title.

He made his international debut for India in the Sri Lanka series but did not get many chances after that. He alongside Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan are the new recruits for New Zealand for their impressive performances in IPL 2021.

Gaikwad is highly unlikely to feature in the first two games against New Zealand and might get a look in for the final T20I alone.

Graeme Swann Rates Ruturaj Gaikwad To Be A 9 Out Of 10

Graeme Swann was highly impressed with CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and hailed his century knock in Abu Dhabi. He reminded the words of Michael Hussey telling him two years ago to watch out for Gaikwad in the future and rated Gaikwad to get 9 out of 10.

“He has been absolutely incredible for CSK and he’s played some of the best knocks I’ve seen in the IPL. That 100 he scores in Abu Dhabi was just sensational. I’m glad that Gaikwad is in.

“Michael Hussey told me a couple of years ago ‘this guy is an absolute gun’. Just look out for him. This was before he had done anything magical. He is a 9 out of 10, a work in progress, but a seriously good player,” Graeme Swann mentioned.

Graeme Swann Views On Shreyas Iyer’s Fluctuating Career

Graeme Swann mentioned that Shreyas Iyer has had an off-on career so far and wanted him to step up. He rated Iyer to be an 8 out of 10 and was delighted by the fact that India could use either Iyer or Gaikwad in the top 4.

“Shreyas Iyer is a glorious man to watch bat. But he has had his ups and downs. He has had some incredible performances and then some weaker ones. He is an 8 for me but could well easily be a 10. He can get there one day. I love the fact that Gaikwad and Iyer can be in that top 4,” added Swann.

India will take on New Zealand today at the Jaipur, Sawai Mansingh stadium.
