Former India pacer Dodda Ganesh has taken a subtle dig at Indian Test specialist batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and stated that it’s his turn to have side strain in the India tour South Africa tour.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s poor run with the bat continued in the second Test match of the two-match Test series against New Zealand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. As the Test specialist batter got out on duck after facing just five deliveries on Day 1.

He was struggling in the first few deliveries he faced and was eventually castled by spinner Ajaz Patel in the 30th over. Also, just after Pujara, Indian captain Virat Kohli was given LBW out controversially by umpires and he too got out on duck and India were in huge trouble.

The expectations from Pujara were very high at home before the long South Africa tour but he failed miserably in the first innings of the second Test. Also in the first Test at Green Park, Kanpur, he didn’t manage to register big scores under his belt.

Meanwhile, after the middle order failure, opening batsman Mayank Agarwal managed to smash incredible 120* runs despite not getting much support from the other hand and at Stumps on Day 1 India were at 221/4

Notably, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane who was having an extremely poor run was not part of the second Test despite captaining the team in the first game due to a “minor hamstring strain” and many cricket pundits opined that it’s just an excuse from the Indian team to drop the high-profile player.

Meanwhile, Dodda Ganesh on his official Twitter handle wrote:

“So it’s next Pujara’s turn to have a side strain on the morning of the Johannesburg test”
