Shardul Thakur is an Indian cricketer who plays for Team India in international cricket. In the Indian Premier League, he plies his trade for Chennai Super Kings.

A right-arm pacer, Thakur has also represented Punjab Kings, Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Shardul Thakur's IPL career began in 2014. Shardul Thakur's first IPL team was Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab). Thakur, however, struggled to show his talent while being a part of the Punjab Kings squad. In 2014, he warmed the bench throughout the season before playing just one game in 2015.

Things went from bad to worse in 2016 when Punjab Kings told him to go home midway through the season. Following the incident, Thakur had said that he was hurt after being released by the franchise when the season was going on.

In 2017, Thakur was traded to Rising Pune Supergiant where he played 12 games and picked up 11 wickets. In 2018, Chennai Super Kings signed him up and the Mumbai cricketer played four seasons for the franchise.

His best IPL season so far came in 2021 when he starred with the ball to help the Chennai Super Kings win the title. Thakur picked up 21 wickets and finished the IPL as the third-highest wicket-taker. Ahead of IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals signed him before he joined Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.
