South Africa takes on India in a three-match T20I and ODI series to be played in India starting from September 28 with the first T20I. The Proteas played a five-match T20I series earlier this year which ended 2-2 with the final in Bengaluru washed out. India are yet to win a bilateral T20I series against South Africa at home since 2018.

After India’s early exit from the Asia Cup, this series becomes an important one for their preparations for the T20 World Cup to be played in Australia later this year. A few players will be itching to make a mark in the series to seal their spot for the mega event in Australia.

The series begins with the first T20I on September 28 in Thiruvananthapuram. The next two T20Is will be played in Guwahati (October 2) and Indore (October 4). The series then moves on to the three ODIs starting with the first ODI in Lucknow on October 6. The second and the third ODI will be played in Ranchi (October 9) and Delhi (October 11) respectively.

India faced an early elimination in the Asia Cup 2022 as they failed to defend their title in the multi-nation tournament. The side won both the league games and then lost their first two Super 4 games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka to bow out of the tournament.

After a forgetful campaign, the side will now host South Africa for three T20Is and in the process, will look to fine-tune their squad for the T20 World Cup. The BCCI is expected to try out a few young players in this series. In this article, we take a look at three young Indian players who might be included in the squad for the T20I series against South Africa.

IND vs SA: 3 Young Players Who Might Get A Chance To Feature In India Squad vs South Africa T20Is

1) Ishan Kishan

Kishan is an option, the management can look to try out. With Rishabh Pant not performing as expected in the Asia Cup, Kishan can be given these three games to see how he performs and whether he has it in him to be a part of the squad for the T20 World Cup. Kishan can open the batting and give quick starts at the top which will be crucial in the T20I series. He is a safe keeper as well and gives India an option with the gloves as well.

2) Shubman Gill

Gill is another young batter who can be given a chance at the top. He was in red hot form in the recently concluded series against West Indies. He scored his maiden ODI ton and gave India good starts alongside Shikhar Dhawan. Since India is still experimenting and figuring out their best combination for the World Cup, trying out Gill will not be a bad idea.

3) Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh was a big positive for India in an otherwise disappointing Asia Cup campaign. He had the tough job of defending fewer runs against Pakistan and Sri Lanka and he kept his nerve and did a good job with the ball. Only if he is given consistent chances will he improve as a bowler and for the greater good of Indian cricket. The left-arm pacer should be a part of the T20I squad and should be played all the games to test out his potential.
