IND vs SA: India ODI Squad For The South Africa Series (Predicted)

India and South Africa will soon lock horns in an ODI series. The IND vs SA ODI series will witness three matches. The ODI series will be played after the three-match T20I series, which begins on September 28. The IND vs SA 1st ODI will take place on October 6 (Thursday). The 2nd and 3rd ODI will take place on October 9 and 11.

South Africa will be led by Temba Bavuma in IND vs SA ODI series. India is yet to announce their squad for the series. When India last played an ODI series against South Africa in January this year, they lost the series 0-3 losing all the games. Now, India will aim to avenge their last series loss. Batsmen- Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rahul Tripathi

Since the India squad for ICC T20I World Cup 2022 will travel to Australia ahead of the IND vs SA ODI series, they will not be available for the ODI series against South Africa. Hence, other players will get opportunities to play against South Africa.

For batsmen, the India squad might have players like Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Rahul Tripathi. Shikhar Dhawan is also expected to lead the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma. While Dhawan and Shubman Gill will be the openers for India, Ruturaj Gaikwad might be an extra opener in the squad. He can also bat in the middle order.

Rahul Tripathi might be another batsman for the team in the middle-order. He was part of the previous ODI series against Zimbabwe and might be picked in the ODI series against South Africa as well. Tripathi is yet to make his international debut.

All-Rounders- Shahbaz Ahmed and Venkatesh Iyer

For all-rounders, Shahbaz Ahmed and Venkatesh Iyer might get an opportunity to be part of the IND vs SA ODI series. Shahbaz Ahmed was picked in the previous ODI series against Zimbabwe. However, he did not get an opportunity to play any game.

Venkatesh Iyer has played a few games for India. He has scored 24 runs in 2 ODI games and 133 runs in 9 T20Is so far. Against South Africa, Iyer might get an opportunity to showcase his batting strength to the selectors. Both Shahbaz Ahmed and Venkatesh Iyer will also be middle-order batters for the team.

Wicketkeepers- Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson

For the wicketkeepers, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson might get a place in the India squad in the IND vs SA ODI series. Both of them were part of the previous ODI series against Zimbabwe as well.

While Sanju Samson scored 58 runs in 2 ODI innings, Kishan scored 56 runs in 2 games. While Ishan Kishan can bat as an opener and middle-order batsman, Sanju Samson will bat in the middle-order.

Spinners- Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi

For the spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi might get an opportunity in IND vs SA ODI series. Kuldeep Yadav picked 3 wickets in 3 games at an average of 41.0 in the previous ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Ravi Bishnoi has never played any ODI game but has played many T20I matches for India. In the absence of crucial spinners, Bishnoi might get a chance to be part of the India squad for IND vs SA ODIs.
