Former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has opened up on the changes in India’s playing XI in the 4th match of the five-match T20I series against the South Africa National Cricket Team.
South Africa have a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series against India, having won the first two games of the series in a dominant fashion at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi and Barabati Stadium, Cuttack.

In the third game at the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, India won the match by 48 runs to stay alive in the series. The fourth game of the series is scheduled to be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Friday, June 17.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Parthiv Patel said that there is no need for India to make any changes for the 4th T20I. He added that India have a few players to experiment but winning the series is a priority. He said:
“That pitch is the best road in Rajkot! (laughs). If you want to experiment, then you have many options like Umran and Arshdeep. You can also try Hooda, who has done well, in place of Shreyas Iyer at No.3. But winning the series is also important and I don’t see them making so many experiments.”
Parthiv Patel Feels South Africa Should Play Marco Jansen In The 4th T20I vs India
Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel added that the South African team should include Marco Jansen in the playing XI for the 4th game as he is a good bowler with the new ball and he bowls very well in the middle-overs. Parthiv Patel also stressed on Shreyas Iyer’s weakness against pace bowling.
“Jansen not just swings with the new ball, but also in the middle-overs, especially Shreyas Iyer wants to feast on the spinners and hit 2-3 sixes to get set. So you can have that fast bowling option in the middle.”
Parthiv further said that the express pacer Anrich Nortje can get some support with the inclusion of Jansen as he can come to bowl after the powerplay with the young left-arm pacer in the playing XI. He said:
“The way Nortje is bowling, even he will get some support and confidence as he can then come to bowl after the powerplay and be utilised better. Jansen can also bat quite well so it’s not that the batting gets thinner with the change.”
