South Africa tour of India 2022, IND vs SA- Match Prediction- Who Will Win The Match Between India And South Africa? 2nd ODI. Indian Team will play their 2nd one-day match against South Africa on 09th October 2022, Sunday at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi. The team India will lead by Shikhar Dhawan and South Africa team will be led by Temba Bavuma.

The match will get started at 01:30 PM IST and the toss of the 2nd One Day match will be done at 01:00 PM IST. India suffered a nine-run loss to South Africa in the rain-curtailed first ODI. Invited to bat, South Africa posted 249 for 4, riding on the fifties from David Miller (75 not out) and Heinrich Klaasen (74 not out) and Quinton de Kock’s 48 after the match was reduced to a 40-over-a-side affair due to wet outfield.

India slipped to 51 for 4 in 17.4 overs but Sanju Samson took the chase deep with a 63-ball 86 not out but it was not enough as they ended at 240 for 8. While Sanju Samson was the top-scorer for the hosts, Shreyas Iyer hit 50 off 37 balls. Shardul Thakur (33 off 31 balls) also played some lusty blows but Lungi Ngidi (3/52) took two wickets in the 38th over to stop India in their tracks. Kagiso Rabada (2/36) also took two wickets.

Among the Indian bowlers, pacer Shardul Thakur took two South African wickets, while debutant spinner Ravi Bishnoi and spinner Kuldeep Yadav got one each. Sanju Samson smashed 86 not out off 63 balls but India fell just short of what seemed an improbable chase at one stage against a South African side desperate for wins in the World Cup Super League.

Sanju Samson and Shardul Thakur added 93 in 66 balls for the sixth wicket and were particularly severe on South Africa’s second spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi. Tabraiz Shamsi conceded 89 runs in eight overs, including 20 in the final over when India needed 30.

The Indian batting lineup disappointed the fans in the 1st ODI while chasing 250 in 40 overs. Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill scored 4 off 16 balls and 3 runs off 7 balls respectively, while debutant Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 19 runs off only 42 balls at a strike rate of 45.24. Ishan Kishan also managed just 20 runs off 37 balls before Shreyas Iyer’s 50 off 37 balls and Sanju Samson’s 86* off 63 balls took India close to the target.

South Africa 249 for 4 (Miller 75*, Klaasen 74*, Thakur 2-35) beat India 240 for 8 (Samson 86*, Iyer 50, Ngidi 3-52, Rabada 2-36) by nine runs

South Africa really needed to win this ODI series as they are in a critical situation with respect to ODI super league. Their series against Australia has already been cancelled which was set to happen early next year. The Proteas have committed themselves to CSA20 which meant that they had to withdraw from that series which has robbed the points for them. That meant they need to win almost all their remaining games to directly qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup without having to play the qualifiers.

South Africa allrounder Dwaine Pretorius has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series in India as well as the upcoming men’s 2022 T20I World Cup – that begins later this month in Australia – after fracturing his left thumb. He picked up the injury during the third T20I against India on Tuesday in Indore, the only game South Africa won in the three-match contest. Marco Jansen has been added to South Africa’s ODI squad.

The Proteas have managed to come up after the voids left by Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers. Their middle order is definitely one of the best going around and if Aiden Markram cracks the ODI format, they will be unstoppable, to say the least. South Africa would probably play the same XI in the 2nd ODI unless they decide to play benched Reeza Hendricks in place of Aiden Markram, who scored a duck in the 1st ODI.

In the 2nd ODI, Bengal spin all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed might replace Ravi Bishnoi. Ravi Bishnoi who made his debut in the ODI format in the first game picked 1 scalp but conceded 69 runs in 8 overs. Pacer Deepak Chahar, who was rested for the 1st ODI may replace out-of-form pacer Avesh Khan, who didn’t pick a wicket and conceded 51 runs in 8 overs. Rajat Patidar or Rahul Tripathi may also replace Ruturaj Gaikwad, who batted at a substandard strike rate of 45.24 in the 2nd ODI.

With the visitors winning the first ODI, the 2nd ODI between India and South Africa is expected to be a close contest, where the Proteas would start as slight favourites to win the match. India are without their regular XI, who have flown to Australia to prepare for the 2022 T20I World cup with the exception of a few standby players.

Lack of experience gives South Africa a slight edge. Winning momentum is also on Proteas’ side as they won back-to-back games- the inconsequential 3rd T20I and 1st ODI. South Africa is predicted to win this 2nd ODI game and seal the series 2-0 unless India’s fringe players step up and deliver.
