The series decider of the three-match One Day International (ODI) series between Shikhar Dhawan-led India National Cricket Team and David Miller-led South Africa National Cricket Team was played on Tuesday, October 11, and the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi hosted the game.
India National Cricket Team defeated South Africa National Cricket Team by 7 wickets in the match to seal the series win by 2-1. Notably, Team India have only lost one of their last eight ODI series.

Earlier, the toss was delayed due to a wet outfield and it took place at 1:40 PM. India National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. They made no changes to the playing XI and retained the winning combination from the second ODI.
On the other hand, South Africa National Cricket Team made three changes as Marco Jansen, Andile Phehlukwayo and Lungi Ngidi replaced Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada.
David Miller was handed the captaincy responsibility in the absence of Keshav Maharaj and Temba Bavuma and he became the third captain of the Proteas in the three-match series. Also, South Africa became the first team in history to field three different captains in a three-match ODI series.

While opening the innings for the visitors, both Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock got dismissed inside 10 overs. De Kock was cleaned up by Washington Sundar for 6 in the third over and Malan got dismissed by Mohammed Siraj for 15 in the 8th over.
Also, the last game’s star performers Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks failed miserably. Reeza Hendricks faced 21 balls and scored only 3 runs before getting out in the 10th over, which was bowled by Mohammed Siraj, and Aiden Markram scored 19-ball 9 before being sent back by Shahbaz Ahmed in the 16th over. Captain David Miller, who remained unbeaten in the first two ODIs, got dismissed by Washington Sundar in the 19th over for 7.

Then, the wickets fell like a pack of cards and South Africa were bundled out for 99. The wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen was the top-scorer for his side as he amassed 34 runs off 42 balls, including 4 fours. Also, he was the only batter to cross the 20-run mark in the innings.
Indian left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav bagged 4 wickets while Mohammed Siraj, Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar picked up 2 wickets each.
Chasing the target, Shikhar Dhawan failed for the third consecutive time in the series and got run out for 8 in the 7th over. Also, Ishan Kishan got out for 10 in the 11th over.
However, the young opener Shubman Gill (49) batted brilliantly and the in-form middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer (28*), who finished off the match with a six, provided good support to help India win the match and the series.

This is the 9th time (by far, the most by any ODI side!), India has won a series 2-1 after losing the opening game!
And since Dec 2017, India has done this on six occasions! #IndvSA #IndvsSA#SAvInd #SAvsInd— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) October 11, 2022
India's win at Delhi – with 185 balls to spare – is the third heaviest defeat ever inflicted over South Africa in an ODI.
The two bigger ones for SA came vs England (215 balls) at Trent Bridge in 2008 and vs Australia (188 balls) at Sydney in 2002.#INDvSA #INDvsSA #SAvsIND— Rajneesh Gupta (@rgcricket) October 11, 2022

Indian selectors and management have a difficult decision to make with regards to Dhawan when they sit to select the team for NZ ODIs. He's played 16 ODIs this year and avged 40.5 at a SR of 74.6.
A drop from his overall avg of 45 and SR of 91.7 from 2019-21.

in case India wants pace and they are not considering Deepak Chahar as a replacement of Bumrah then Mohammad Siraj should fly to Australia ahead of Shami. Siraj is way better option at the moment than Shami. pic.twitter.com/z31cvpWu48
