Earlier, India National Cricket Team won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match. The Men In Blue made three changes to the playing XI as KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were rested and Arshdeep Singh was out with a back injury. Shreyas Iyer, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj were included in the playing XI. On the other hand, the Proteas made just one change to the playing XI as Dwaine Pretorius replaced Anrich Nortje.

Batting first, South Africa openers – Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma – failed to have a good partnership for the third consecutive time in the India T20I series.

Captain Temba Bavuma, who failed to get off the mark in the first two matches, got dismissed by pacer Umesh Yadav for 8-ball 3 in the 5th over of the innings. At the end of the powerplay, Proteas were at 48/1.

Then, wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock batted brilliantly and completed his half-century off 33 balls and South Africa completed 100 runs in 10.1 overs. He got run-out in the 13th over after scoring brilliant 68 runs off 43 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Batter Rilee Rossouw, who also failed miserably in the first two games, batted exceptionally and smashed a marvellous century. He smashed brilliant 100 runs off 48 balls, including 7 fours and 8 sixes.

Also, David Miller (19 runs off 5 balls) and Tristan Stubbs ( 23 runs off 18 balls) chipped in with brilliant contributions to help South Africa post 227/3 on the board.
