Virat Kohli was not part of the IND vs SL T20I series recently but will be back to the team in the upcoming IND vs SL ODI series. Moreover, Virat Kohli also eyes two crucial ODI records and can overtake India batting legend, Sachin Tendulkar.

The former India skipper Kohli owns good form currently. In the previous ODI series against Bangladesh, the right-handed batsman shattered his 71st international century. Kohli also surpassed Ricky Ponting, who holds the record of 70 international centuries.

Virat Kohli On The Verge Of Breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s Records in IND vs SL ODI Series

Virat Kohli has currently smacked 19 ODI centuries at home. Former India opener Sachin Tendulkar accounts for 20 centuries at home in ODIs. Hence, if Kohli scored a century in IND vs SL ODIs, he will equal Tendulkar’s record. Moreover, if he manages to score two centuries in the series, he will surpass Tendulkar for the record of most ODI centuries at home.

Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli also hold the record for the most centuries against Sri Lanka in ODIs. Both the batting greats have shattered 8 ODI tons against Sri Lanka. Hence, if Kohli manages to score a century against the visitors, he will surpass Tendulkar for this record.

India vs Sri Lanka ODI series will witness three matches. IND vs SL 1st ODI is set to take place on January 10 (Tuesday) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The other two ODI games will take place on January 12 and 15.
