Indian Cricket Team won a thrilling 1st T20I match against Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue won the match by 2 runs where they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Skipper Hardik Pandya took a massive risk by giving the 20th over to Axar Patel where Sri Lanka required 13 runs to win.

Sri Lankan Cricket Team had won the toss & opted to bowl first at the Wankhede. The visitors restricted India to a below-par total of 162-5. The dashing right-handed batter Suryakumar Yadav had a rare off day. Deepak Hooda & Axar Patel played brilliant cameos as India was in a spot of bother at 94-5.

Skipper Dasun Shanka played a fantastic knock of 45 runs in 27 balls where he smashed 3 fours and 3 sixes. The batter would rue the fact that he couldn’t take the team over the finish line as his dismissal was quite decisive. The batter showed immense control.

The dashing all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne’s decision to leave two balls in the 20th over proved to be the turning point. The right-handed batter would be upset with himself as he had to hit 2 sixes to win the match for his team.

During post match presentation Dasun Shanaka was asked about the match.  “It was (our game to lose). Really disappointing with the way we finished. In Wankhede you need the batsmen to help you cross the line.” said Dasun Shanaka.

“I use the matchups really well and that’s the reason we restricted India to 162. It is still the first game and they (batters) are really good bunch of youngsters, they will come good.” he added.
