Australia announced its squad for the last three Tests in the 5-match Ashes series against England. There were no changes made to the previous squad and the 15-strong squad will remain the same as earlier.

Regular Test captain, Pat Cummins, will be making his return to the side along with ace bowler, Josh Hazlewood, in the Melbourne Test on Boxing Day. Hazlewood was ruled out with an injury following which he was replaced by Jhye Richardson in the Adelaide Test.

On the opening day of the 2nd Test, Cummins was also ruled out as he was deemed to be in close contact with a covid-positive person in a restaurant. He returned home since and has been in isolation. Cummins is expected to return for the third Test which begins on December 26.

Michael Neser took the place of Cummins and was impressive in his debut Test. However, Cummins’ return was always on the cards and Neser might have to make way for the No.1 Test bowler in the world. Mitchell Starc earned himself some time following a good outing in the ongoing Adelaide Test.

Australia might make a solitary change apart from Cummins and Hazlewood for the next couple of games. The under-fire opener, Marcus Harris, will likely get the boot as he has been nothing short of underwhelming in the first two Tests.

In-form batsman, Usman Khawaja will be the one to take his spot. Khawaja has been in great touch having played excellently in the Shield. If they manage to plug the hole at the top of the order, the Aussies have a settled batting unit to go with in the last three Tests.

Australia’s squad for the final 3 Tests:

Pat Cummins (c), Travis Head, Jhye Richardson, Alex Carey (wk), Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Cameron Green, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Harris, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Swepson, Josh Hazlewood, Michael Neser, David Warner.
