Ashes 2021-22: Shane Warne Says He Would Have Preferred Stuart Broad Over Ollie Robinson For MCG Test

Former Australian spinner Shane Warne believes that Stuart Broad could have been played by England over Ollie Robinson for the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
England made as many as four changes to their lineup for the MCG Test. Zak Crawley, Jonny Bairstow, Mark Wood, and Jack Leach were brought into the team at the expense of Rory Burns, Ollie Pope, Stuart Broad, and Chris Woakes.
Although the side is perhaps England’s best playing XI on the tour, Warne thinks Broad should have started.

“England looks a better balanced side – I would have played @StuartBroad8 instead of Robinson & Pope looks a good player to me, but Bairstow had to play. Pope will play a lot of Test cricket. Aussies will welcome back @patcummins30 & good luck to S Boland on debut, he’s good,” Warne tweeted.
England lose three wickets in the first session
The first session went Australia’s way at the MCG as returning skipper, Pat Cummins, ran through the top-order in a productive morning for the Aussies. Cummins dismissed both the openers very early in the innings, leaving Dawid Malan and Joe Root to begin the rebuilding process again.

The duo did the same once more and looked settled heading into Lunch. However, what would have been a shared morning session became Australia’s when Cummins dismissed Malan in the last over before Lunch. England was 62/3 at the time and need another big partnership to save their blushes.
