Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik feels that the Indian white-ball vice-captain KL Rahul will be opening the innings in the 2nd ODI match against West Indies.
Star batsman Rahul was not available for selection in the first One Day International match and senior opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan was also ruled out of the match after contracting Covid-19. Ishan Kishan had opened the innings with Rohit Sharma in the match, where India won by 6 wickets.

Shikhar Dhawan is still not cleared to return and Dinesh Karthik wants Rahul to replace Ishan Kishan and open the innings with Rohit Sharma in the second ODI, Karthik said on Cricbuzz:
“I think KL Rahul will definitely walk into the team. If he does come in, which he is, I see him opening the innings. There is no doubt about it, so a pretty straightforward call, I would think.”

Dinesh Karthik, while talking about the key player for India in the second ODI, said that he is looking forward to pacer Mohammed Siraj, who bowled really well in the first game. He said:
“I’m looking forward to Mohammad Siraj. He bowled really well with the new ball, got it to swing and come back in as well. If there is something in the wicket, obviously he provides a lot. So, I’ll be closely looking at Siraj.”
I think Yuzvendra Chahal is now getting confidence – Shaun Pollock

Meanwhile, Shaun Pollock believes that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will be the key player for India in the second ODI. He asserted:
“Chahal would be the key player. Leg-spinner has a massive part to play against the West Indies. I don’t think they’ve been great readers of certain deliveries.”
The former South African all-rounder added that Chahal is getting back his confidence after his good performance in the first ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. He said:
“I think Chahal is now getting confidence, he’s back on the Indian shores, he’s getting some purchase on the surface. I think those middle overs will be the overs where India will try and once again dictate terms. I’d like to see whether he can do it again and whether his confidence is high enough to be able to have that impact.”
