The ODI series between India and West Indies have come to an end and the focus now shifts to the upcoming T20 internationals. The first T20I between the two teams is slated to be played on Wednesday at Eden Gardens Stadium. Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian Cricket Team in the series. His deputy, KL Rahul, however, has been ruled out due to the injury.

Rohit Sharma, thus, is likely to open the innings with Ishan Kishan. Virat Kohli should come at three, followed by Rishabh Pant and either one of Suryakumar Yadav or Shreyas Iyer.

As for the all-rounders, India have got the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar. They are certainly spoilt for choices and it will be interesting to see who all makes into the playing XI. Senior fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami both have been rested for the series.

In their absence, Mohammed Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan will share the fast bowling duties. Yuzvendra Chahal should lead the spin attack.

He will be supported by Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi. It is worth mentioning that Axar Patel has been excluded from the squad and Deepak Hooda is added as the replacement. West Indies, on the other hand, would look to bounce back strongly after suffering a 3-0 whitewash in the ODI series.

They would look to take confidence from their last T20 series win against England. Kieron Pollard will lead the side, while Nicholas Pooran will be assuming the vice-captaincy duties.

With Shai Hope not in the best of forms, you expect Kyle Mayers to open the innings with Brandon King. The middle-order will have the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, and Darren Bravo. Shimron Hetmyer will continue to miss out due to injury.

West Indies have a lot of depth in the batting as they will also have the likes of Odean Smith, Romario Shepherd, Jason Holder, and Rovman Powell. Sheldon Cottrell is there in the pace-attack as well and is likely to make it into the playing XI.

The first T20 international between India and West Indies is slated to be played at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The pitch here is a batting paradise. The ball comes nicely onto the batsmen and teams tend to notch big totals on the board.

Spinners too, get a lot of assistance from the surface and they might prove effective in the first T20 international as well. The pacers ought to wary their pace and need to use a lot more cutters and yorkers to return with successful figures. Both teams would look to bowl first after winning the toss.
