According to the reports of News9, the Indian selection committee is set to meet this week to select the squad for the upcoming white-ball series against West Indies, which will begin from February 6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Indian white-ball captain Rohit Sharma, who got ruled out of the South Africa tour due to a hamstring injury, is all set to make a comeback in the series against West Indies and with his return vice-captain KL Rahul is once again expected to bat in the middle order in the three-match ODI series.

“Though we haven’t received Rohit’s fitness report from the NCA yet, what we know is he has worked really hard on his fitness and is on course to return to the side. It is important for the team to have your captain and Rohit’s presence will bring a lot more confidence,” a source privy to developments told News9 on Tuesday.
“West Indies will fly in as soon as they complete their series against England and we are well prepared to host them in our bio-secure bubbles in Ahmedabad and Kolkata,” the source added.
Jasprit Bumrah To Be Rested, Bhuvneshwar Kumar To Be Sacked For India’s Home Series vs West Indies
Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for the 6-match limited-overs series against West Indies after being a part of all the games in the South Africa tour. Also, Mohammed Shami, who was given the rest for the three-match ODI series against South Africa, is expected to return.
“We have to be very careful in managing the workload of key players as the T20 World Cup is not far away and IPL is also approaching. It is going to be a hectic few months for all of them and we must manage them with precision. Bumrah bowled the most number of overs for India in South Africa and he will likely be given a rest but Shami will return to the squad,” the source explained.
If reports are to be believed, senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who looked completely out of touch in the ODI series against South Africa, is set to be dropped from the team.
Bowling all-rounders Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar after their amazing all-round performance in the South Africa tour are expected to retain their place in the team.
“Shardul and Deepak were excellent. We want multi-skilled players in the team and if they can continue to score runs down the order then it will only allow the team to formulate more expansive tactics in ODIs and T20s,” the source privy to discussions added.
Senior all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are still not fully match fit and they are expected to miss the West Indies series. However, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel are expected to return to the team.
Meanwhile, all the ODI matches of the series will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad and T20I matches will be played at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
